As the world is set to grace the Olympics this summer, four young Gambians are set to win big on the world stage.

Gina Bass and Ebrima Camara are both athletic; Ebrima Sorrie Buaro, a swimmer, and Faye Njie, judoka, will be representing The Gambia in the Olympics on various levels.

Previously a gold medal winner, Gina Bass���������������������������Africa’s fastest sprinter was the country’s flag bearer during the 2016 Rio games. Bass has subsequently improved on her timing���������������������������this has been seen in all her games in 2021. She won Silver at the Marseille France with the season’s best timing of 11:21. She broke her record on June 20 in Poland, where she won gold with a timing of “alignnone size-medium wp-image-2145″ src=”https://thesistersshow.comwp-content/uploads/2021/07/PhotoCollage_20210715_142725061-300×200.jpg” alt=”” width=”300″ height=”200″ />

Another bright athlete who will be gracing the Tokyo Olympics games is Ebrima Camara. Camara will be making his first appearance at the Olympics with great ambition to win big. His international appearance can be dated back to 2013 at the African Youth Championship in Warri. Camara has since then participated in numerous international events, including the Common Wealth Games held in Australian Gold Coast, the African Games in Rabata, and also the World Championship in Doha.

Faye Njie will make his second appearance at the Olympics in a row. This year, the Gambian judoka champion���������������������������won Silver at the African Judo Championship held in Dakar after losing to Algeria’s Fethi Norine. Njie feels that he is more matured now as he looks forward to the Tokyo games this summer.” it is always a remarkable achievement to qualify and now I have done it twice, so it feels amazing indeed.”
“Naturally, my aim is to improve my previous results done in Rio, and the ultimate goal is to bring home the first medal ever to The Gambia,” He added.

The fourth Gambian who will partake in the games is Ebrima Sorrie Buaro, who is seeking a medal. He earns his swimming spot through a wild card. A wild card is a team or athlete who has not qualify but can compete at the organizer’s discretion.
